T'is the season to snuggle up with a good book, making it the perfect season to launch a book club... And that's exactly what we've done! Not just any book club though, we've launched the first online seasonal book and mail club for both fantasy and horror books.
After trying and failing to give up with one too many monthly book clubs myself, I knew I wanted to do something different for Merlin's Book Emporium, and I knew I wanted to incorporate something creative in with it. That's how I came up with our seasonal online book and mail clubs that launched it's first book packs in September!
So what exactly is it?
Each season we pick a book for each book club and then design a selection of printed goodies to match the theme for each book. These printed goodies consist of an A5 art print, A5 sticker sheet, a vinyl sticker and a bookmark all digitally hand-drawn by me to compliment the book for the season. You'll also receive a genre themed book review card to note down your thoughts and feelings and an intro letter to the season from me. This is what our autumn ones look like:
But that's not all, the idea of creating these printed goodies with each book was to give each book club member the tools to journal about the books we read together. That's why when you sign up, you'll get a Welcome Pack that includes a free scrapbook, a reading tracker bookmark, and a sticker sheet.
As we're an online bookshop, we wanted to create an online community to discover and discuss new books with via our book club. Each member will be invited to join our Discord community when they sign up, and we'll hold online meet ups at the end of each season too. Sound like your cup of tea? Why not join us? You can join our autumn one up until the beginning of November.
